Precision Ag Results

Bolstering farm profits with ag technology

The promise of ag technology has long been discussed, but too often the results for growers fall short. At Fessenden Co-op Association, however, we utilize today’s ag technology to enhance traditional agronomic practices for Precision Ag Results.

Precision agriculture helps you realize the full potential of your ground and inputs by capturing data and measuring results. With data comes knowledge, and this allows us to adjust management decisions in an educated manner to make a difference.

By managing differently across each field, you gain the potential to reduce input costs, raise productivity, and continually improve.

Making precision ag work for you
Our locally focused team knows tech, and they know central North Dakota farms. That’s a powerful combination for farming today.

  • Soil testing
  • Precision mapping
  • Variable-rate fertilizer prescriptions
  • Precision Planting
  • Harvest yield analysis

Soil, water, and topography = SWAT

Today’s crops are more productive than ever. As a result, they demand and remove more nutrients from the soil. That’s why we start with the soil, using SWAT technology to map your fields in zones. We believe it creates the most valuable variable-rate fertilizer and seed map in the industry.

If you see an unusual looking attachment on a pickup or piece of equipment being driven across a field, then you may have seen the SWAT Box. This highly sophisticated tool gathers data specific to the field, which are then layered to create 3-D maps.

Some of the 80-different potential map layers include:

  • RTK elevation
  • Topography features
  • Soil organic carbon
  • Water flow paths
  • Electrical conductivity

We then perform soil tests based on the SWAT map, and we create variable rate prescription maps for seeding, fertilization, and chemical applications.

We also can overlay maps with yield data, and we clean up erroneous data that can come from bad readings in the field that make yield data spike up or down.

A history of precision

Precision Ag Results became a part of Fessenden Co-op Association in 2016, but our history dates to 2002. For two decades, we have grown our knowledge and developed practices that work well with zone management for central ND.

In 2003, we began doing our own zone soil testing that allows us to verify the accuracy (ground truthing) of zone maps before application maps are created.

In 2009, we began the process of incorporating RTK elevation information when doing zone analytics. The hardware services we offer have steadily expanded with the addition of various technology, including Precision Planting in 2015.

Meter Testing
Meter Testing

Meter Testing

Meter testing helps to ensure you are getting the best performance from your planter.  By running meters on our MeterMax test stand, we can analyze each meter’s singulation, spacing, skips, doubles plus more.  We can zero in on any parts that may need to be replaced such as seals, singulators, ejectors, or brushes.  Once we finish running them, you can rest assured your meters are operating as efficiently as possible and therefore helping you to achieve your best yields.

Why and how meter testing can pay off:

  • Maximizing our planters performance
  • Help minimize breakdowns in the field
  • Avoid yield loss through skips and doubles
  • Lessen input costs
  • Ultimately increase per acre profits

We are dealers for the following vendors, so we can help you maximize your equipment’s efficiency and help with maintenance.
