Packing quality into every bean

Superior nutrition from North Dakota growers

At Fessenden Co-op Association, we partner with local central North Dakota growers to process and deliver the best quality edible beans to food companies and export markets.

Edible beans are a nutrient-rich food, high in protein, and naturally low in fat. We process pinto beans and black beans, which are sold under the Fancy Pheasant and Fessenden brands.

Please contact Brad Stevens or Matt Schilling at (701) 547-3197 if you are interested in growing or purchasing edible beans.

Grower benefits with Fessenden Co-op

  • Competitive contracts.
  • Diversified revenue stream and a more stable source of income.
  • Edible beans provide agronomic benefits. They are very good in a crop rotation, especially when followed by wheat.
  • Choose from six different locations to deliver beans. Most of the crop is delivered at harvest.
  • Our long-standing supply channel relationships allow us to accept all grades of edible beans, so you always have a market – even in a tough year.
  • We offer seed that’s proven to deliver on local fields.

Cash Bids

Your Wish, Our Command

We work closely with our customers to deliver edible beans that meet and exceed their specifications.

Whether that’s just the right color for packaged beans or minimal seed-coat damage for canned beans, we take the time to define the requirements and then strictly adhere to our agreement.

We sell under the Fancy Pheasant and Fessenden brands, which are processed and packaged at modern facilities in North Dakota. Our first processing plant was constructed in Fessenden in 1992, and we’ve continued to invest in our facilities ever since. In 2018, we added processing capacity with a new plant in Hamberg, ND.

We pack in bags of 25 lbs, 50 lbs, 100 lbs, 25 kg and 50kg. We also offer bulk totes, and rail hopper and truck loads. We’re capable of filling two railcars a day with 100-lb bags, so if you need an order filled right away, we can make it happen.

Let us know your needs for edible beans, and we’ll contact you in short order.
